John Hughes died today while walking in Manhattan. He was 59 years old. The Breakfast Club was a very special movie for me, and Hughes was a writer and director of singular talent. He will be sorely missed.

Update: via Victor, here's a blog written by a woman who, as a teenager, became John Hughes' pen pal. It's wonderful to learn that one of your heroes was actually a good person, too.
